Flax Seeds
Flax (Linum usitatissimum), also known as common flax or linseed, is a member of the Linaceae family. Grown primarily for its seeds, flax can be ground into a meal or processed into linseed oil, which is widely used both as a nutritional supplement and in wood-finishing products. Flaxseed sprouts are edible and possess a slightly spicy flavor. It is important to note that excessive consumption of flaxseeds without adequate water intake may lead to bowel obstruction. In northern India, flaxseed, known as tisi or alsi, is traditionally roasted, powdered, and eaten with boiled rice, a bit of water, and salt.
